KABHIE ALVIDA NA KEHNA

Dev, a former football player is married to Rhea, a successful fashion editor. Maya is a kindergarten teacher who is married to Rishi, an outgoing event planner. These couples' lives intersect and they each question their own marriage.

This movie was very ahead of its time.

Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna translates to Never Say Goodbye. Ironic because there were a lot of goodbyes here. For the benefit of the doubt, I assume it refers to a certain goodbye from a certain someone.
This film had a great plot and great acting, especially from the four main lead characters, Dev, Maya, Rhea and Rishi. This one has a lot of moments that make you question the worth of things around you. The problem with it was how in every movie you want the good guys to win, but then after it ended wonder why the bad guys did not, because they were not so bad after all. That was the kind of feeling I got from this film.

There were two marriages here. But there was one problem. Both marriages lacked passion, and it was more of a formality then an actual marriage, the couples did not feel the love anymore. Whatever fire was burning when they had first gotten married had burnt out, completely. They needed help igniting it again, and try to do so.

I think the thing about marriages is that they need constant nurturing and care, just like anything else in this fragile life. Even friendships need care, for if you stop talking to your friends someday you will forget each other in the tide of life that does not stop for anyone. Time is too quick for us to realize what truly matters, so we need to remind ourselves that we are speeding too fast, and need to stop a while to think and just breathe. Same story with a marriage, it is a vow that is lifelong and should be treated with even more importance looking at how crucial of a bond it is. A bond that creates bonds. To work a marriage, one needs to put in effort and time into it. That was what the couples here lacked in my opinion. The effort toward each other.

Love is fragile, but after realizing how much it is worth you understand why people used to die in the name of love. Every single human being residing on this planet craves love and affection. But, before we go out seeking for it, looking so far away for the infamous 'love', we need to look right where we are. Love is all around is a saying for a reason. We were born with it surrounding us in all directions and are fortunate. We need to appreciate the love we already get from family and friends before looking for it from strangers.

For married couples, the prime reason you are together is the vow you took sometime ago to always be there for one another. Not to mention the responsibilities you have now, as a parent, a guardian to your children. Also, that the love of a married couple could not die unless effort is put into it. I am sure all married couples try to ignite flames now and then, but some succeed and some do not. The question is should people try harder? Or should they take the short way out?

I think that this is a great movie, I did not find anything missing (mainly because I only look at the plot and acting of the main leads). As a film, it succeeded in entertaining me. Now will it do the same for you?
