After being molested, Minal, along with her friends, tries to file an FIR against a politician's nephew. When the subsequent case gets rigged, Deepak, a retired lawyer, helps them to fight the case.
A cinematic experience that will move you.
This film has no flaws, in my opinion. The acting was spot on. Everyone had so much onscreen charisma at some point it was even overwhelming, but in the best way. I never moved an inch when I watched this, I remember clearly. It was so, surprising to see such high level performance from a Hindi film, because that is not expected most times. Hindi films are great, but this was of a different level. Truly an evolution to Bollywood that I absolutely enjoyed watching.
This movie basically circles around the topic of a woman's dignity. As a woman myself, I understand that women have a different concept of dignity. Since the olden days, women are the ones who were put down, underestimated, barely looked at, never given any title of any sort, and sadly that reality has found a way to squeeze into today's era as well. It is a stereotype that women are helpless and weak compared to men. Thus, her dignity means nothing. Rape, murder, molestation, sexual assault and the list goes on and on for what women go through all around the world. Not saying then men are immune to all these acts, its just that women are more prone to them. No one can be put at fault for enforcing these stereotypes and disgusting behavior toward women, it is just our luck.
In this story, it can clearly be seen how men are given privileges as well when it comes to sexual crimes. I honestly thought it was the opposite, women being the ones more vulnerable and all. But, with all the feminism and gender equality that is going around right now, women are posed just as much of a threat as men are. Thus, no special treatment whatsoever is given because they are women. For women portray themselves as strong, independent leaders, so why give them the benefit of the doubt?
Women are definitely at a better place than 100 years ago, when even basic human rights did not apply to females. However, the freedom that we women have today comes with a price. Self-dignity is ours to uphold and all of our actions have to be thought about before they are done. The world is still clouded with judgement toward the female community and it is never alright to think we are in a safe place just yet. I know, women are powerful now, why live in fear? Do not live in fear, just never be so ignorant toward that fear that you think everyone is open minded, because I assure you they are not. I do not know if one day sexual crimes will halt once and for all, but I do know that we can never be sure the world is all rainbows and butterflies even if it does.
All I have to say is even if you are not into the thrill of movies with court scenes and heinous crimes, you might still find this movie intriguing. Watching it is definitely not a waste of time, unless holding your breath for 2 hours is considered wasting time.
