SHREE 420

When a young man from a small town decides to make it big in a city, he faces several challenges.

Bollywood's classic that can never get old.

There is just something about black and white film that is so mysteriously intriguing. Everything somehow seems clearer in old films, oddly. I think it is because those days, films were straight forward. A lot of them had important morals to deliver to the audience, but at the same time wanted it to feel, eternal. This one feels just like that.

Lies. Greed. Ego. These are what bring problems into someone's life. They actually come hand in hand in most situations. We are never put in a situation where lying is the only out, yet we open ourselves to be burdened by them. Why, I wonder? Do they make us feel good? No. Do they help us in any way? Not really. But, we succumb ourselves to the devil with these lies. We sometimes just want to feel the thrill of deceit, that comes by not telling the truth. Sometimes, it is a secret no one could find out, so we lie. But we forget, secrets come out one day or another. We are really foolish then when I think about it. We jump into deep waters knowing we will definitely drown. We may think we are immortal and are indestructible, but one day we will all perish. Do we intend to leave a string on untruths behind us? No.

Greed, the ultimate evil. Greed for anything can never end well, may it be for materialistic purposes or for certain living company. The greed of money to be considered the worst kind of greed. The exact greed portrayed in this movie. Because money is the root o all evil, some say. I think it is the greed that is the root. Money is merely a tool to aid the greed. Greed drives people to do things that are not right by any law or religion, we all know that. But, greed is a basic human emotion. If businessmen did not have any greed for money, their companies could not possibly prosper. Same, with ego. It is a a basic human emotion. Every one in a while, we feel like we are on top of the world. That is okay, actually. We need to give ourselves credit for our achievements.

However, the problem arises when things become excessive. When ego and greed increase to such heights, where a person is prepared to commit felony for it, then we know it has gone too far. So many people surpass the limit of greed and ego, but some manage to pull back. Rational kicks in and you begin to realize this is not who you are at all. We are all good people in nature, it is just that some tend to be blinded by their greed and ego, that makes them unable to think like good people again. So, I implore you. We have yet a long life to live, know your principles and all will be good.

Movies are lessons presented subjectively to an audience. We learn so much from a mere 2 hour film that some movies can given make us want to make changes in our lives. The world of cinema will continue to change lives, these movies are what keep those changes to be for the better, not the latter.
